Meet the Kindermusik Australia/NZ teamWe believe there's nothing like putting a name to face so below is an image and a short blurb about each of our staff members so next time you're talking to us, you know what we look like!
Sylvia Stock - Director
Sylvia Stock was born and schooled in Brisbane and left early to pursue a hairdressing apprenticeship. By the tender age of 17 her entrepreneurial side was already showing through and she owned and operated her own successful salon.
She met her husband Peter and fell madly in love (which they are to this day) in 1988. They moved to Melbourne in 1990 with Peter's job at the Bureau of Meteorology, to Adelaide 10 months later (Peter's home town) and married in 1991 on ‘Adelaide Cup Day'! Their first son Colin was born in May 1992 and two years later, Peter was offered the opportunity to work in Ceduna on the far west coast of SA.
With no fast food, crowds, traffic lights or traffic for that matter, the family immersed themselves in the fantastic fishing and great surfing on offer but after four plus years and another child (James - born in 1996), they realized they missed city life and family, so Peter applied for a posting to Brisbane Airport and in 1998 they returned to Queensland.
After their time in isolated Ceduna they eagerly enrolled their kids in everything on offer: swimming, kindergym, drama…. and of course, Kindermusik. Both the kids and parents loved Kindermusik so much, Sylvia began working for a Kindermusik educator helping with enquiries, paper work and office work.
As fate would have it, Sylvia was in the office the day Michael Dougherty (CEO of Kindermusik International) came to visit. After a brief conversation about Kindermusik and where it was going in Australia and how things could be improved, Sylvia was offered a job on the spot in the US office but declined and didn't give it another thought.
With Pete restless in his job at Brisbane Airport, the family decided on a sea change and in 2001 moved to the Sunshine Coast. In May that year Sylvia received a call from Michael in the U.S with a proposition – would she like to be the Australia Distributor for Kindermusik???.... and Kindermusik Distribution Australia/New Zealand was born.
There have been lots of ups and downs, late nights and early mornings, missed weekends, tears, laughter and all the other things that go with owning and operating your own business ever since Sylvia took over the reigns of the head office position, but Sylvia says she wouldn't change any of it for the world!
"As with any business, you learn, you grow and then you do it all over again. It's never finished and there is always one more thing to do. The challenges are never ending but the rewards of knowing that in the last few years we have helped more than 200 educators teach nearly 50,000 children – now that's a feeling money just can't buy!!"

Peter Stock - Warehouse & Website
Peter Stock, AKA Pete and 'Syl's husband' grew up in Adelaide and was doing a science degree when he was lucky enough to get the job of his dreams; a Meteorological Observer with the Bureau of Meteorology.
For over 20 years he enjoyed the travel and work environment the Bureau provided but thereafter witnessed the computerisation of the department, going from manual data collection and analysis with many hundreds of employees to the computer intensive department that it is today with only a fraction of the employees.
After many years of loving his job, Peter found himself dissatisfied and after discussing alternatives with Sylvia decided to make a 'sea change' and move to the Sunshine Coast.
At the same time as Sylvia getting offered the Kindermusik Distributorship in Australia, Peter was chasing his passion (surfing) by opening a small surf shop. It didn't take him long to realise that 20 years in the public service was no preparation for the retail industry!
As Kindermusik grew under Syl's leadership and new employees were needed, Peter sold the surf shop and took on the warehouse management role. As the position has grown to the point where another employee, Ken, has been employed full time to manage the affairs of the warehouse, Peter is returning his focus to the website (and surfing of course).
"We certainly consider ourselves lucky - not only do we live in a great place (Sunshine Coast) in probably the best country in the world, but our industry, (the music industry), is friendly, vibrant and allows us to change the world one child at a time!"

Nadine Hogg - New Educator Support

Nadine was born in London, England and moved to Australia in June 2007.
When she was primary school age Nadine sang in the local church choir. She learned the recorder at school and did many accompaniments to school plays and productions. She also did classic dancing lessons (ballroom and Latin-American) and then took up modern disco dancing.
It was at school that Nadine started guitar lessons and was given her first full size acoustic guitar when she left school to go to college. She studied as a Horse Riding Instructor and also did some tertiary qualifications including Sociology.
Nadine went on to teach horse-riding for adults, children and disabled riders and used music to train dressage horses. She met her husband when she taught him to horse-ride and they have now been married for 14 years and have a son.
The long hours and poor pay working with horses, led Nadine to retrain as an Optical Dispenser, which took 3 years distance learning and training in practice. She worked for many years as an optical store manager and gave training and advice to new staff members joining her team.
The Hogg family decided to move to Australia to live their dream and improve their way of life.
Joining the Kindermusik team has given Nadine the opportunity to be part of a meaningful company and the chance to share her interest in music and her passion for people.

Diana Acheson - Educator Mentor & Maestro
Diana Acheson has always loved music and used to “hang out” with the piano tuner when she was 2 years of age, helping him to tune the piano. Diana showed a love for music and dance and after years of ballet, highland and piano lessons, finally settled on piano and singing as her “main thing”.
Diana set her sights on doing a degree at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music early, which she completed years later, loving the atmosphere at the Conservatorium to this day. It was there that she realised that music was a journey, one that was just beginning.
After years of working with children in the areas of music and special needs, Diana came across Kindermusik in a magazine. It took 2 years to come to the decision to train and within 12 months of becoming a licensed Kindermusik educator, Diana was in a commercial studio and loving it. She still has the studio, now with 3 teachers working for her.
In 2002 Diana was invited to be a mentor for Kindermusik International, responsible for training new teachers. In early 2006, she added to her responsibilities and became part of the KDA team as Recruitment Manager, responsible for all Kindermusik educator enquiries, nurturing potential educators through the process from their first enquiry to entering a learning group.
Music and education have always been a big part of Diana's life. She has a BA(Mus), Grad Dip Ed (Childcare) and several Kindermusik awards.
“Music is the thing that feeds me. We all have that one passion in life that makes us tick and music and teaching are those things for me. I love the joy that Kindermusik brings to the lives of children, parents, families and the teachers that teach it. I am proud to be part of a program that is making a difference in the world! My personal interests are children, choir music, composing, conducting, and eating out.”
