Grandparents - Grand entertainment for young ones!

With Mother's Day having just passed us this weekend, we are reminded of our own parents and all that they do for us and our family.

From baby sitting, entertainment and even the odd nag, our own parents deserve recognising for their contribution to our kids lives this month and their endless support. They spoil the kids rotten on birthdays, Christmas and Easter and get respect and obedience from them when we think all help is lost!

Grandparents are really quite grand!

In this special issue of Parents Club Newsletter, Kindermusik take the time out to highlight some great activities that the kids can partake in with Grandma or Grandpa.

From friendships with surrogate 'Grand-friends' to family trees, games and explaining the aging process, you will find some helpful advice and education on how your kids can learn from the older generation.

But not to worry, in this issue we still won't leave you short of a bargain either. For the month of May, We have discounted our fabulous CD collection set Bach and Baby.

Check out our online store for more bargains.

Now his most emotive and stimulating works have been collected to enhance the various routines in your child's daily life. Each is compiled by Dr. Rebecca Shore—a mother, musician, and educator—who is a nationally-known author and lecturer on the developmental impact of music on a baby's mind.

Music – A Common Tie

Parents of young children report that they feel strongly that the formation of attitudes toward ageing and older adults begins early in life. There is no better time to introduce babies to older adults and begin to establish relationships with older adult friends if grandparents are not nearby. For parents just beginning to establish relationships with an older adult “grandfriend,” a baby and music create natural connections.

Toddler Games

Gross motor abilities grow by leaps and bounds during the toddler years. Your youngster probably has a zest for discovering new movements and for repeating and refining them. Paired with this increased movement repertoire is the developing ability to cease movement (or other activities), called inhibitory control. "Stop and go" games that feature this skill are popular with good reason. Grandparents will find that movement activities with young children provide irresistible incentive to exercise.

Noticing, Learning, and Growing

Research indicates that attitudes towards older adults and about ageing develop early—as early as the preschool years. Studies also show that experiences with older adults directly and positively affect these attitudes, allowing children to form their own impressions rather than adopting stereotypes.

Looking Forward, Looking Back

Young children learn about aging through experiences with those older and younger than they are. At this age, a young child will start to have a better understanding of the notion that a grandparent once was a child. If the child spends time with a younger sibling or playmate regularly, she will also have a sense of that child's growth.
